LANGUAGE & SPANISH STUDIES IN MAD (trimester)

Overview

  • Minimum GPA: 2.50
  • Language of instruction: Spanish and English
  • Language requirements: None. Open to all levels.
  • Place of instruction: Complutense University in Madrid
  • Participants: International students
  • Upon arrival students take a placement exam to determine language proficiency
  • Students choose any combination of courses for a total of 180-225 hours. Culture courses in Spanish (Art, Literature, Philosophy, History, Culture, Applied Language) are open to intermediate and above level students. Other English electives (Politics, Marketing, Society, Culture, Literature) are open to all students.
  • Students at the beginning level are required to take 120 hours of Spanish language, divided in 3 different courses of 40 hours each on Grammar, Written Expression, and Oral Expression. They may complete their course load with supplemented 20 hour language courses or English electives.

ACADEMIC CREDITS

Credits are provided by Complutense University. ALA recommends that all students receive approval of credits from their advisors at their home institution before they register. Number of credits approved will also depend on students� home institution.
